HUMAN RIGHTS POLICY
The Mission statement of I-ne Group※1reads, “We are Social Beauty Innovators for Chain of Happiness.” Our Mission is to create a chain of happiness that extends to our Bosses (our customers), business partners, local communities, and the planet through our products and services.
In pursuing our Mission, we must ensure that our products and their development processes do not cause harm to anyone anywhere in the world.
We have therefore established this Human Rights Policy. This policy is based on the UN’s Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, which require businesses to uphold the rights set out in the UN’s International Bill of Human Rights※2 and the International Labor Organization’s (ILO’s) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.※3
Human rights is one of the four pillars of the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact (the other three being labor, the environment, and anti-bribery). As a signatory of the UN Global Compact, we have committed to upholding these principles.
This policy enshrines I-ne Group’s commitment to upholding human rights. Guided by this policy, we will respect the human rights of everyone as part of our efforts to create a more sustainable world.
※1 I-ne Group: I-ne, I-ne’s subsidiaries, and other group companies
※2 The International Bill of Human Rights comprises 1) the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 2) the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, and 3) the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and its two optional protocols.
※3 This declaration expresses the commitment by governments and businesses in ILO member states to upholding five fundamental principles and rights at work: 1) freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining, 2) the elimination of all forms of forced or compulsory labor, 3) the effective abolition of child labor,4) the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation, and 5) a safe and healthy working environment.
Human rights compliance
We will uphold the International Bill of Human Rights, ILO’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, and legal and regulatory requirements that apply in the territories where we operate. If any such legal and regulatory requirements conflict with internationally recognized principles of human rights, we will prioritize complying with the latter.
We reject and prohibit discrimination on the grounds of the person’s race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status, or any other such grounds. We never discriminate on such grounds when remunerating, promoting, or appraising I-ne Group staff.
We respect the human rights of I-ne Group staff and staff of our supply chain partners. Across our supply chain, we will build a working environment that is safe and healthy and that respects diversity and individuality. We commit to abolishing child labor, eliminating forced or compulsory labor, respecting freedom of association, respecting the right to collective bargaining, reducing excessive overtime, providing a living wage, and supporting staff health and safety.
Recognizing our responsibility to future generations on this planet, we also commit to respecting and supporting children’s rights by upholding the Children’s Rights and Business Principles developed by UNICEF, the UN Global Compact, and Save the Children.
Scope
This policy applies primarily to members of I-ne’s Board of Directors and I-ne Group staff. However, we call on our suppliers and other business partners and associates who support our Mission (We are Social Beauty Innovators for Chain of Happiness) to uphold this policy and support human rights alongside us.
Actions
-
Human rights due diligence
In line with the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, we will maintain a due diligence process in which we audit I-ne Group’s businesses (both new businesses and more longstanding businesses) and our supply chain to identify and evaluate human rights risks (aspects of the business that threaten human rights). We will then prevent or mitigate these risks.
-
Remedy and Redress
We will maintain a grievance mechanism for cases where an I-ne Group business has encouraged, abetted, or directly created adverse impacts on human rights. This grievance mechanism will handle the case and remedy the grievance in a legitimate and impartial manner.
-
Education and Training
We will provide training courses to members of I-ne’s Board of Directors and to I-ne Group staff to inform them about this policy. We will also inform our business partners about the policy and routinely communicate our expectations to them.
-
Information Disclosure and Dialogue
We will regularly communicate our human rights practices under this policy to staff across I-ne Group and disclose them publicly with the help of outside experts in global communications. We will also create a dialogue process with our stakeholders to engage them in efforts to monitor potential human rights risks in I-ne Group. Any issues we discover will be dealt with swiftly and earnestly.
